You gotta wonder...

Last weekend when we were returning from the Melbourne opening of the Montalto Sculpture Prize where my largish sculpture 'Moved On' is a finalist, the call of nature caught me at Adelaide Airport so I visited the mens room, as you would.

On the wall there was a big sign that really left me perplexed:

'Adelaide Airport Limited uses recycled water for toilet flushing. DO NOT DRINK.'

Now, in all the years that I've been travelling through airports, and in the brief visits of necessity to the mens rooms in those airports, I have never seen anyone drinking from toilets or even looking like they were contemplating drinking from the toilets. Have I been missing something all these years? Are there guys who like to sip from the loo when no one is looking? A bit of a gargle at the urinal? A quick suck on the yellow cake? Nah! I just don't think so.

What made someone at Adelaide Airport Limited think that a warning like that is necessary? I know we are in a drought throughout most of Australia, but there are still drinking fountains at the airport.

What is this world coming to!?
